Meet Dr. Collin Wietfeldt

DMD

Dr. F.H. Collins III

Dentist

Dr. Wietfeldt grew up in Michigan on his family’s farm. He attended the University of Colorado for his undergraduate in Biomedical Sciences. While in school, he was a dental assistant for a local dentist. He was accepted into the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and upon graduating, he completed his AEGD residency program in Birmingham, AL at The Foundry Dental Center. His training was focused on providing care for the underserved and 40+ addiction recovery programs. He refined his post-graduation focus on IV sedation, full arch dental implant surgeries and restorations, along with aesthetic and functional full mouth reconstruction. These procedures changed the lives of so many patients in need that could not afford this type of high-level care. He loves to restore the smile and function of patients that no longer think it is possible to do so.

Sedation Dentistry in Winter Springs, FL

Sedation Dentistry helps you feel calm, relaxed and at ease while receiving dental work. At Collins Dental, we offer different types of dental sedation options for different types of patients. Whether you suffer from severe anxiety or simply want to feel more comfortable during your treatment, we can provide a sedation option for you.

Relax With Our Sedation Options

Nitrous Oxide

(suitable for children aged 5 and older)

Nitrous oxide, commonly referred to as “laughing gas,” is a mild sedative used during dental procedures to help patients relax. It is administered through a mask or nosepiece, and its calming effects typically begin within three to five minutes. Throughout the procedure, your dentist carefully adjusts the dosage to ensure optimal comfort.

Since the gas dissipates quickly, you can resume your daily activities, including driving yourself home, shortly after the procedure.

Oral Conscious Sedation

(For patients who are eligible and aged 18 years or older)

With oral conscious sedation, your dentist administers a sedative medication, typically in pill form, around an hour before your procedure begins. The most commonly used medication is triazolam (Halcion®), a member of the same family of medications like Diazepam (Valium®) or Atavan (Xanax).
This form of sedation often makes you feel very drowsy, and you may even fall asleep during the procedure.

Intravenous (IV) Sedation

(For patients who are eligible and aged 18 years or older)

IV sedation dentistry is the deepest level of conscious sedation available in a dental office. Sedative medications are delivered directly into your bloodstream through an IV line, allowing them to take effect quickly. During the procedure, your dentist closely monitors vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels, adjusting the dosage as needed. Reversal medications can also be administered if necessary.

What Our Patients Are Saying

"Lilly does a fantastic job cleaning my teeth. Her customer service is unmatched. She is very professional and anticipates my needs. I come all the way from Pennsylvania for Lilly and this office. I feel amazing and well taken care of after my visits with her. I recently had an extraction and Nicole and Dr. Wietfeldt made sure I was comfortable. The shots were so easy and I felt nothing. 10/10."

- Meggan B Google

"They go above and beyond to make you comfortable even when you’re nervous. The office is clean, relaxing and modern. The front office staff, hygienists, and dentists are always honest with your dental plan.
They walk you through every step and explain what they’re doing. I moved 2 hours away and still travel to see them. Thank you guys so much!"

- Ericka D Google

"After having a poor experience establishing care after relocating to Orlando, Collins Dental welcomed me with no issues or concerns and I was able to transfer my medical records and x-rays without issues. They cleaned my teeth at the first visit without question and provided comprehensive, friendly care. Both the hygienist and dentist were awesome! I highly recommend to anyone looking for a dentist in the area."
