Dr. Wietfeldt grew up in Michigan on his family’s farm. He attended the University of Colorado for his undergraduate in Biomedical Sciences. While in school, he was a dental assistant for a local dentist. He was accepted into the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and upon graduating, he completed his AEGD residency program in Birmingham, AL at The Foundry Dental Center. His training was focused on providing care for the underserved and 40+ addiction recovery programs. He refined his post-graduation focus on IV sedation, full arch dental implant surgeries and restorations, along with aesthetic and functional full mouth reconstruction. These procedures changed the lives of so many patients in need that could not afford this type of high-level care. He loves to restore the smile and function of patients that no longer think it is possible to do so.

Sedation Dentistry helps you feel calm, relaxed and at ease while receiving dental work. At Collins Dental, we offer different types of dental sedation options for different types of patients. Whether you suffer from severe anxiety or simply want to feel more comfortable during your treatment, we can provide a sedation option for you.
Nitrous oxide, commonly referred to as “laughing gas,” is a mild sedative used during dental procedures to help patients relax. It is administered through a mask or nosepiece, and its calming effects typically begin within three to five minutes. Throughout the procedure, your dentist carefully adjusts the dosage to ensure optimal comfort.
Since the gas dissipates quickly, you can resume your daily activities, including driving yourself home, shortly after the procedure.
With oral conscious sedation, your dentist administers a sedative medication, typically in pill form, around an hour before your procedure begins. The most commonly used medication is triazolam (Halcion®), a member of the same family of medications like Diazepam (Valium®) or Atavan (Xanax).
This form of sedation often makes you feel very drowsy, and you may even fall asleep during the procedure.
IV sedation dentistry is the deepest level of conscious sedation available in a dental office. Sedative medications are delivered directly into your bloodstream through an IV line, allowing them to take effect quickly. During the procedure, your dentist closely monitors vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels, adjusting the dosage as needed. Reversal medications can also be administered if necessary.

Preventative dental care refers to continual maintenance and care required to maintain optimal oral health. Along with general dentistry, such as oral exams and cleanings, preventative dental care includes emergency dentistry, fillings and sealants, and more.
Repairing or restoring damaged teeth, through restorative dentistry, allows for a healthy and functional mouth. Services and procedures in this category include implants, dentures, root canals, and more.

While the health and functionality of your teeth are important, we also offer cosmetic dental services to improve the appearance of your smile. Often, cosmetic dentistry, for example fixing misaligned teeth, can improve the functionality and appearance of your teeth. Other issues cosmetic dentistry can help with include crooked teeth, excessive gaps, crowding, or discoloration. Cosmetic dentistry provides effective results with minimal discomfort and no lengthy recovery period.
At Collins Dental, we pride ourselves on being experts on almost any type of dentistry our patients need. Dental services we have become known for in Winter Springs, FL include dental implants, Invisalign®, and general dentistry.
